The BEPPS-DIF facility will provide storage for Intermediate Level Waste from donor plants and is critical to supporting retrievals from one of Sellafield's key legacy facilities.
Concrete delivery on the Sellafield site is now more sustainable – thanks to the introduction of a state-of-the-art batching plant. New laboratories within the batcher plant will also help Sellafield to make the most sustainable concrete they can – and there will be added environmental benefits as concrete supplies will now only travel short distances around Sellafield itself, helping to reduce traffic on local roads and leading to a reduction in carbon emissions.
Sellafield's First Generation Magnox Plant (FGMSP) Inlet Cell 3 requires to be re-configured and upgraded to act as an export cell for the legacy waste currently on the pond. The mission is to test all equipment's that will be used to retrieve 1500 cubic metres of radioactive sludge lying at the bottom of the pond which is equivalent to more than half an Olympic sized swimming pool before site install and commissioning.
